SONG A DAY, DAY 3

Earlier this week I was invited to partake in a round of posting a song a day by A Momma’s View. I do love music of many genre’s so I willingly accepted her challenge. Here are the rules that I somehow have managed to NOT strictly follow…

  • Post a song a Day for five consecutive days (done so far)
  • Post what the lyrics mean to you (optional)
  • Post the name of the song and video (yep)
  • Nominate two different bloggers each day of the challenge ♥ I will ask one blogger each day ♥ (changed this day one)

So, this E’ville Woman is feeling very ethereal today and thinking about the elements of the universe. This is the one and only hint you should need to identify the band I am featuring today. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you EARTH, WIND AND FIRE…

September by E,W&F

Every time I hear the music of Earth, Wind & Fire I smile. I feel so blessed to say that my childhood and young adulthood were happy. I do know that there were some not so happy things that came my way but for the best of reasons my mind does not travel backward on those particular roads. Instead I venture back where my heart soars on the lightest of air where I was afloat with the truest of friends and my small family.

Now these lyrics do mean something to me because on the 21st of September (1979) I obtained my driver’s license, one year after this song was released. I remember Mama letting me drive home that night after the judges formal handing over of the licenses to us new drivers and on the radio this song was playing. That night is indelibly noted on my life’s playlist.

Hey JoAnne over at My Life Lived Full, will you post some songs with me and others?

  1. Thanks for thinking of me 🙂 I do have a rather odd, mixed bag of music that I call favourites.

Earth, Wind, and Fire was never on my radar though. An omission on my part. I’m rather intrigued by your comment about “the judges formal handing over of the licenses to us new drivers”. What? You do your driver’s test, but a judge awards the licenses?

    • Yes. Here in Virginia we go to local court where a traffic court judge gives a brief review of the privilege we are about to receive. Also reiterates the horrors of drinking or texting and driving and obeying rules of road and law enforcement. It is quite a big deal. I can’t speak for how other states do it.
